I picked up Monument Valley in the same Humble Bundle I got Baba Is You in. I’d previously played the first on Android and remember having a good time so I decided to replay it in this Steam release. This Panoramic Edition also includes extra chapters and DLC.
I feel that Monument Valley quickly gained its popularity by being incredibly pretty with simplistic controls and goals. Puzzles are never too tough, but the mind-bending, twisty levels make you feel like you’ve accomplished something incredible. Unfortunately for me, this makes it feel something akin to a walking simulator. Only once or twice did I get stumped for longer than a minute, with most chapters taking 5 or so minutes to complete. It’s still enjoyable despite this, but maybe more suited for the phone as a time waster rather than a fullscreen PC game.
Completion was simple with all the achievements just being tied to finishing a chapter. 19 achievements, 19 chapters! With 2 hours to 100%, it was a decent time waster while watching something in the background.
